Preachers are definitely a good ski (full disclosure I have a pair) but very definitely more than a returning intermediate would want to deal with.

Thanks @markopj, and thanks @fatbob, I really appreciate your input! But I'm not sure that I am really overthinking this?
That was my first instinct too, after I was told they didn't have any 191 demos - I loved the 184s, so what the hell - why not just buy them?
But on second thoughts, I loved them compared to what? - to my skinny racing skis and to Whitedot Preachers (which are too much of a ski for me at this stage). I haven't tested any other skis and I'll hazard a guess that, compared to my WC SL skis, a few others that I shortlisted would also feel like a revelation in those conditions.
My main gripe is that I haven't even managed to ascertain whether the 191 or 184 would be better for me. As a big guy, I need flotation and the 191 would undoubtedly offer more of it. But would it then compromise the agility too much?
Blister tested them in 177 and 184 and suggested they ski'id like two completely different skis (they loved the 177 but were underwelmed by the 184).
No doubt the tester's light weight led to such conclusions - I loved the 184. So would it be the same for me - would I also dislike the longer ski?
I was hoping there would be someone out there who tested both skis and could offer an insight?
A friend of mine sawed a seed of doubt in my mind by suggesting that the old Mantra would have a better edge hold on ice, since the new Mantra has been de-cambered.
The new crop of ~ 100mm skis all seem to be superb - the Nordica Enforcer, Atomic Vantage and Head Monster 98.
Would they be stiff enough for me?
Again, I was hoping someone out there might have tested them and could provide an input.
@royal has done exactly that, by saying that the Atomics were comparable to Cham 97 - and I can get those much cheaper than the Atomics.
I am hoping that someone has tested any of the ones that I'm looking at, as well as the Mantra (either new or old, ideally both).
Now that would be of great help to me!
Anyone out there?
P.S. @fatbob, really good point about the wider appeal of the 184 Mantra to the second hand market, something to think about
