Friday, February 28, 2003: Meet any old time at Mad Mountain Tavern for liquid refreshment. Located at junction of Rt. 100 and Rt. 17, across from Gallaghers.

Saturday, March 1, 2003: All Bears meet between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. at Gatehouse Lodge - second floor, probably at right near top of stairs. Gatehouse Lodge is the main building at Lincoln Peak area. If you face the mountains, Lincoln Peak is the area on the left, so to speak. Ticket sales are at Gatehouse Lodge.

Saturday evening dinner: At Warren House, which is on the Lincoln Peak access road about 1/4 mile from the Lincoln Peak base. Traveling from parking area away from Lincoln Peak base, it's on the right, back from the road. Cocktails at 5:00 p.m. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. SHARP. Cost $29/person. If you have not paid daevious in advance by Feb 21 by check or Feb 26 by credit card, then payment at the restaurant is CASH ONLY, no credit cards. To pay in advance, look here: http://daevious.com/bears/index.html

Unless daevious has commitment from at least 20 warm bodies before Friday, Feb 28th, reservations will be required. If you have given your commitment to daevious by the 28th, your reservation will be made for you. Otherwise, check this out: http://www.thewarrenhouse.com/

For complete info on the New England gathering, look here: http://www.epicski.com/cgi-bin/ultim...;f=12;t=000233

We understand there will be a BYOB in the clubhouse at Mad River Glen on Sunday night - more info on this when you arrive unless Nakona posts it in this thread first.

It will be GREAT to get together with you guys - and for the folks who were in Utah, it'll be great to see you again!

Ok, who's coming and where are you staying?
Yes, I am coming, but plans have changed. I will be up Friday, but have to leave Sunday night.

I have a discount ticket from AESkiCLub for Sugarbush that I can sell(give?) someone.

I haven't booked a place yet. Anyone looking for a short-term roomie (snores)?

Is it just the 3 of us? :
I'll be there for sure on Saturday and Sunday and most likly on Monday and Tuesday. I live about an hour from the slope so will travel each day. I'm not sure about Friday and Saturday nights but will know by early next week.

Looking forward to making new friends.

I wish I were able to attend! Marcus and I, along with family, will be at Jay Peak the week of March 23. We will be hooking up with other families, bark biters and pinheads through out the week. Our last day of lodging is the following Thursday so we will ski Friday then head home. Look for a post in this forum next month for more info. Sorry Lisa and Mark if this doesn't match your plans, I hope you can sqeeze a weekday and ski with oboe and me.

Ok, here's the deal! We're getting about 14 inches in Boston! {feels more like 10, hahahaha!}
So I'm packing some of it up and bringing it with me to Sugarbush!

Hell, there ain't much info to give.

We got a lodge on the mountain and it has stuff like a fireplace and places to sit.

So, we'll go there and sit by the fire.

This here is the lodge:

Wahl, $h!T, Nakona, is that enough info, or WHAT?! We'll just drive around until we see a lodge like that, B our own B, and PAHTY!! Wrong lodge? Who CARES?! PAHTY is PAHTY!!!
Oh don't worry...

I'll point in the general direction.
Lodge is walking distance from the single chair (and can be skiied to from the MRG trail system). Parking at the lodge maybe tight (room for 15 or so cars), so car pooling (designated drivers?) or walking from the MRG parking on Route 17 (fairly short distance) maybe needed. I will have details (address, directions, Lodge phone number) at the Friday evening get together and at the Saturday meeting at Sugarbush.

Also if people are interested in running the gates ($8 fee) at Sugarbush on Saturday I will need a head count to pass on to our club race chairperson. The race (a GS I believe) will be a low stress course.

I will be skiing at Jay on Friday so if anyone else is interested in an early start let me know.
I'll be here and there.... will TRY to get to the Saturday meeting place in time to catch up with you'all, otherwise I'll get Prag and Nakona to help me find you!

Will be at Sugarbush Saturday, MRG on Sunday, at RMSC's lodge after skiing on Sunday, and will prob. hang around to ski on Monday if anyone is going to be around.

LM - I think bringing some of this white stuff up with us is a GREAT idea, although, it WAS snowing as we drove off on Tuesday morning.
Maybe we should all ski MRG on Sunday? I think I'm finally ready to face the challenge! I'll be catching a 7:00 pm bus form Montpelier on Sunday, so I don't know how long I can hang out, but it will be great to meet you folks!

BTW, Maggie, are you teaching, now?
Re: Teaching.... not seriously!

Ron (my partner) and I are having too much fun skiing to spend too much time teaching. Ron generally ski's with the almost intermediate skiers and has fun picking apart technique and giving them what they need to "cross over" to the other side!

If you want to ski MRG with us on Sunday we'll be glad to show you around!
Hey guys, I sent a stack of EpicSki stickers to Oboe to pass out to anyone at the gathering that want's them. Have fun!
I can't believe I'm doing this, but I have to scratch our names off the list of participants from the NE Gathering. I was hoping to at least join you for the Saturday evening dinner, but I'm still experiencing way too much physical pain and swelling in my leg to attempt a 12-hour round trip in the car. And I don't even want to think about looking up at Sugarbush & Mad River and not be able to ski them (on my birthday weekend, no less). Rest assured that I've learned my lesson: never again ski the ice-filled mountains of Utah.

Too bad, I was looking forward to meeting everyone.

BTW: I have two discount Sugarbush vouchers for $34 each. Let me know if you'd like them.

What a bummer! I didn't talk to you as much as I would have liked to in Utah, since I figured I would see you in a few weeks!

you take care of yourself!
I will be at Jay on Friday, Sugarbush on Saturday, Sunday still decideing between the Bush and MRG, Monday MRG.

Hope to see many of you Friday evening, Sat at the Bush and hopefully Sunday eveniong at the Lodge.
I'm a little concerned about who's coming to dinner. To date, I have firm commitments from exactly 2 people.

IF you intend to be at the Saturday night dinner at the Warren House and you haven't already paid, please e-mail me or PM me ASAP.

I have made arrangements for a party of about 20. If we don't have at least 15 people committed BY WEDNESDAY I will have to cancel and make a regular reservation, and we can order off the standard menu, no special pricing.

Pragmatic -
When are you heading up to Jay?

Daevious -
I'm sorry. I have been casually procrastinating.
I will Use the pay-pal method within 24 hours. In other words, before close of business Tuesday.

Looking better: we're now up to 8 (Mr. & Mrs. Oboe, KeeTov, CalG, Lar-seti, Lisamarie, nakona, and--I had forgotten, but Oboe reminded me--me).

Keep those cards & letters coming, folks!

What I would really like is to have everyone who is going to the dinner to contact me either by e-mail or by Private Message, EVEN IF you responded to the earlier poll or you have posted somewhere in the forums that you'll be there.

If you have not already paid, you can pay by credit card through PayPal ( click here ). I would prefer this.

HOWEVER: If you cannot use PayPal, or you are philosophically opposed to making payments over the internet to some guy you don't know, or you had planned to pay at the door based on Oboe's "final" message, you MAY bring cash to dinner instead. In that case, PLEASE let me know *NOW* that you will be coming and that you intend to pay with cash.

So far nobody has ordered lift tickets for the bulk discount. Since we'd need to buy a minimum of 20 at Sugarbush and 15 at MRG, that is looking unlikely. The next best deal for the 'Bush is to buy tickets off-site. See www.sugarbush.com for details.

I deeply regret that I will not be able to attend the New England Bears Gathering, as I will have relatives visiting that weekend, and I have a work-related appointment Monday that I cannot get out of (much to my chagrin).
I hope that the weather and snow conditions for all of you who do attend will be Epic.
Take a run for me, you guys...
Just as JDL had to remove his name at the last minute, so do I.

I made a wager with my patrol director, if he would enter 2 teams from our patrol in the annual patrol competition, I would round up the second team and we would compete on snowbaords. He agreed

Then the compretition got moved to March 2 from its original date.

I'll be getting run over by my patrol sled in a GS course (and having a blast doing so)at Otis Ridge while you all are frolicing in VT.

Maybe next year---sigh!!!

You folks are depressing me!

Hey, that isn't fair. As opposed to the other last minute quitters, I have a pretty valid reason.

If you had put a gun to my head a month ago and said "you can only attend ONE of the Gatherings," I would have said SUGARBUSH (cuz NE skiing rules... especially this year).

And seeing how things turned out, I wish someone would have made that demand.

Well, I do plan to be there. Look for Oboe Saturday morning upstairs in the Gate House Lodge at Lincoln Peak (aka Sugarbush South) between 8:30 and 9:00.

FYI, the Bravo lift--which is right outside the lodge--starts turning at 8:00 am, so there's time for a warm-up run or two before this meeting, if you like. The other lifts open at 9:00.

I have a staff meeting at 8:00, after which I expect to join Oboe in the Gate House, hopefully take a run with everybody, then I have some work from 9:30 to about noon, and with luck I can hook up with you all again after that.

See you there!

And please:
1) Join us for dinner (the count is still stuck at 8! )
2) Tell me TODAY that you'll be there.

Say, for those of us meeting at the tavern Friday night, how will we recognize each other?
