Profi ski Vise?

Thread Starter
Going to buy a ski vise for tuning my ski's and was thinking about getting the FK Profi
Vise with verticle clamps. My question is that the vise looks kinda flimsy especialy at the plastic part that connects to the adjustable sole that goes into the binding. Does anyone have one of these?? Or should i spend an extra $50 and get the Swix Alpine Ski Vise which looks from the pictures in the Realiable Racing catalog to be alot sturdyer looking.
I only will be tuning my own ski's so it wont get a tone of use.

I like my Swix vice very much. It's the one that has the "boots" that you click into the binding, and retails, now I would guess for about $100.00 It will cost you another $40-50 to get the second "boot." I strongly suggest that you do so. The hassles that you save over time will be worth many times more than the up front dollars you spend now.

Good Luck and Happy tuning.<FONT size="1">

I have to go with Wink on vises. I have a Swix 500 (I think that's the model #) and it has worked very well. I frequently have my DIN on 10 and have had no trouble snapping the ski to the plastic "boot." I don't have the extra boot, but I think it would be a worthwile investment.

I've been using a Profi vise for at least 5 years with no problems. The boot dummy is sturdy, and the skis don't wobble or slide around when I'm working in them. My only complaint is that some of the new skis are a enough wider than the supports that you have to be careful to use a lighter touch when flattening the base so as not to tip the ski to one side. Also, I use 1/2 inch plywood between the supports and the bench top when I work on skis with lifters so that the heel piece clears the bench top.

T0149-30 is the model of Swix vises you want, but do not buy the Swix. Try to find the Ski-Man version from Spirakut. They are the same vises but sell for less @ retail. They are called the Racer plus. Three pieces, will hold any sidewall of any ski. Suggested retail approx, $110.00.
Swix, Toko, Ski-man, the vises are all made in the same place, the Ski-Man versions are less expensive cause they do not have the brand name of Swix or Toko on them.....

Do not get the skivisions vice I've seen it and it's not too impressive.
