Bought 4 pairs of skis

2013 Volkl Charismas for $299 to use for teaching at my local hill.

Atomic Redster XTI for 40% off and also minus my demo fee of $50.  Cost came to $483

Brand new pair of Volkl Charismas from Canada when we head up there saturday, will use these when not teaching, thank you Canadian exchange rate final cost $514

Lastly I wanted a fatter ski to replace my Elysians and demoed and LOVED the Volkl 90Eight.  Turns out one of the supervising instructors at my mountain is a Volkl rep so I'm getting a 2017 90Eight W at cost final cost $442 and this includes bindings.  Don't have to pay for theses until the fall when they come in.

I am done buying skis and honestly plan to keep all these for a good long time.

Brand new 3x First Ascent GoreTex shell for $56.00. Nobody makes a descent shell in a 3x except First Ascent...until they discontinued the size this year 😣

Oops, I mean Freeflex 16 bindings on the i.SL's.

I found a few deals this year.

Thule roof box.  Not sure of the model, but it's absolutely hudge.  It swallowed up my old 192 Bentchetlers with room to spare.  If the Griswalds had this thing on their vacation, they wouldn't have had to stop to drop off Granny.  $150, and it included two keys.  Still has the local dealer sticker on the side.

'15-'16 190 Elan Boomerangs.  Brand-new demo, never skied.  AAAtack 13 bindings, $400.

'11-'12 190 Elan Boomerangs.  Drilled once, minimal damage.  $ushi dinner in Banff with friends.

Rossi FKS 15 bindings.  $5.  Spare pair of heels, included in the $ushi dinner deal.

MCP for sure for me.

6 days at Alta (three were at the 57.00 50% price)

2 days at Mammoth

2 days at Snowmass

2 days at Sun Valley

2 days at Jackson Hole

Still to use, 2 days at Squaw.

I paid 369.00 and got the bonus day at Alta.

Average price per day on MCP.. $33.75.

And the best part of that value, most of those days was spent skiing with my Dad at least part of the time. That part is priceless.

Got a pair of brand-new 2014 Volkl Kenja 170s with Tyrolia Attack 13 bindings for $360 inc. shipping from Ski Essentials. These skis make me incredibly happy, especially at that price.

After 10 year-long hibernation, I took the plunge this year and built out my quiver with:

1) 2015-16 Nordica Enforcer - for $450 down from retail of $700

2) 2014-15 Nordica Fire Arrow 76 Ti (with integrated bindings) for $270

Paid $3.50 for lift ticket to ski at Mad River Glen (MRG) on 1/26.  It turns out for every anniversary date at MRG,  lift ticket $ = original $ when they first opened.  I purchased it from Liftopia.

A pair of Lange XT 120s, end of season sale, for the insane price of $289.  The interface with my Cyclics, another best buy from two springs ago, has been the best thing that has happened to my skiing since the wide-body ski.

Actually Lange changed this boot for the 2015/2016 season so it was a closeout.

My best deals were retro this season..  Bobbie Burns The Ski TRS with S727s, all metal heels, , only one mount, no core shots, excellent condition, even in storage wax.  $8.00 after tax... but I made an additional donation to the charity that runs the store where I found them.  After several hours of contemplation, I decided to move the heels to fit my BSL so I can actually ski them this weekend.

Best item--A pair of Head i.Supershape Rally skis at a low price on-line last spring.  I'd rented these skis in Austria and really liked them.  I didn't realize how well they'd do in shallow unpacked stuff & crud until I tried it.  Worked very well.

Best bargain--free...I experimented with the binding position on the Rally's.  Two notches forward transformed the skis into something really, really nice handling.

Best upgrade--Oakley Prizm goggles.  The rose works best for my eyes in flat light, better than the previous Smith RC36.

Best deal ever for me were 2 pair of Head iSL's 165cm with FF14 BINDINGS RACE PREPPED FOR $1040 DELIVERED!

THIS YEAR WAS MY SCORE (LAST WEEK) of a pair of 2014 Elan Spectrum 105s 180cm for $299! BTW to bogatyr these tips don't flap and the Bonafides don't either unless you are in back seat or not on edge. Bonafides have become a goto for Mantra owners thaT don't want rocker. Spectrums are an amazing sleeper out there for this former mantra owner that demands precision in a wider platform.

Have you spent some time on the Spectrum already ?

Skiied the Spectrum 95's at Big Sky and they impressed as strong, stable and easy to modify turn shape with them. I have Amphibio 88's and they are on to something! The cambered downhill edge gives you energy you want for getting to the new ski early while the uphill cambered edge follows like its laser tracking. Instead of rocker which in the east is good for 2-3 runs usually, I expanded the quiver with an extra 9mm from my tristy Mantras that I've skied around the world.

Just bought - Thermic 1600 batteries with remote. 20% off.

BUT, I'm in Kanukistan, so the exchange is 30%, making them 50% off something that's NEVER discounted. Yeah Me!

This years find... Stockli Laser AR in 183 [AKA the AX], new with plates and bindings...$499.00. These are 2014s, somehow lost in the shop.

My buddy Joe and I will still go with our SAC buys from spring 2014, Head Cyclics.

Lange XT 120 last year sealed the deal.

My best deal was scoring a pair of brand new, never touched snow, 2016 Lange 130 RX's for under $150.

At my local outdoor shop/ gear exchange, I saw a pair this pair of shiny new Langes sitting on the consignment shelf with all of the other used boots. I figured someone had put them there inadvertently, or just put them on a shelf as they were shopping. I go check them out... huh, they're my size. And this is the exact boot I've been researching to replace my Lange RS's which have served me well, but their time has come. Then I look, and I see there's actually a consignment tag on them. $300.

At this point, I was thoroughly confused. These are brand new boots. Who would consign brand new boots? This boot retails for like $800. Why are they selling for $300? I go and ask one of the shop guys. He tells me that the employees got a killer pro deal on a ski package this fall, and a lot of guys took advantage of it. The Langes came with the package, but most of the crew in the shop ski on AT boots, so they took the deal, and consigned the boots, brand new.

Well darn, heck of a deal, can't really pass it up. Then I go over to the consignment counter, and see what my consignment account is looking like. Guy tells me I have almost $200 in credit from consigned items that sold. Alright then. I go to the cashier, apply my credit, and pay less than $150 out of pocket for the exact boot I was planning on paying about $600 for at the end of the season.

Pretty sure Ullr looked down and said "Hey Mike, sorry about the crap season. Here's something for you in return."

I hadn't thought about lift ticket deals! Took advantage of Jackson Hole's 50% discount on lift tickets for season pass holders anywhere else, back in January.

So, like $60/day for 3 days during a massive snow cycle on some of the best terrain on the planet. I was pretty happy about that!

Got a sweet VRBO deal on lodging right at the base of the Hobacks as well. Thumbs Up  40 inches of new snow was free.

Just ordered a brand new pair of 2014/2015 Motive 95s for $180. I couldn't help myself.
