2003 Barking Bears Gathering - Official Thread - Page 13

You do get right to the point, LM. So, someone add his name to the list, please.
Oboe,

Another point, the list doesn't include any of the instructors who will be around for the Academy some of whom will be staying for the gathering. Also, Arby is threatening to bring four or five folks along with him. We might have one of the largest rat packs to ever terrorize a ski resort.

Sounds like fun, huh,

Yd

PS. And about this band thing? I have most of the equipment we will need and can furnish a place for a practice or two. Should we look into having a room where the whole herd of us can get together for the first, and probably last, appearence of the Epic Ski Don't Quit Your Day Job Blues Band?

Well, it sounds like the gathering will be up to thirty, forty, who knows how many more? And we don't even know who some of them are, since they'll be guests of other Bears. Is the list becoming superfluous? Or shall we continue to add new names such as endlessseason and jw and the guests of others and the instructors who'll be staying on after the EpicSki Academy?

By the way, while we're on the subject, some of you may be quite surprised and astonished when you see the form, shape and definition that the EpicSki Academy has been taking, the number of new Bears who will register here, and the number of Academy students whose names will eventually appear on the Academy attendance list - stay tuned! Be there or be a boarder!

Utah Locals (capitlized) and Instructors should all list their names so the list will more clearly communicate the magnitude of the event.

The list as I know it right now:

Please add your name/remove it as necessary. I have added names that I have seen put in response as I have read through different threads, posts and personal conversations. If I did not add your name and you are coming, copy this list, and add your name. Easy stuff. If I added your name and you are not coming, copy this list and remove your name. Easy stuff.

1) oz
2) Arby
3) jamesdeluxe
4) PinHed
5-6) The Skicrazy's.
7-8) MilesB and co.
9-10) Powdigger and Associates
11) AC
12) Fox
13) oboe
14-15) Lisamarie and Mark XS
16) Ryan
17-18) Ryel, Leigh
19) gonzo
20) slider
21) AltaSkier and guests
22) Harpo
23) Endless
24) Ski Monkey
25) Utah49
26) Bob.Peters
27) UtahJim
28) Ydnar

Now, lets go over this again. Put your name on/take your name off yourself if anything changes. I took the liberty of adding names without actually speaking with some of you based on posts.

AC, is there any way that we can get a link at the top of a page with an "official" type thread? I pulled some of these names off different threads not always related to the gathering.
Thanks for the compilation AltaSkier; jamesdeluxe also did one and sent it to me at the asme time you posted yours -- great minds in sync!

If someone wants to create an Official Overview post with all the important info (dates/location/lodging-info/planned activites) and some background on the event, we can use that as a link for those just getting interested in the event but without the time to go through all the long rambling threads. I'll close it and it will be just basic info, no discussion.

Announcements at the top of the Meet-On-Hill forum header are getting crowded and if it gets too crowded then everything is drowned out and none of them benefit -- but I'll try to figure out a way to work it in. There is already a lodging info thread in the academy planning room, that info could be copied into the overview post.

Later Edit:

Just wanted to post that jamesdeluxe is working on this so others did not duplicate efforts. Thanks!

I you have a need for a room mate in the greater SLC metro area and/or you want to travel together from Summit County, then please contact me.

I have enough room in my car and in my ski box for one (maybe two) traveling companions.
Let's forget about the travelling part and focus on sharing a room. Any takers? My parole officer can vouch for me.

Pinhed-

Swing by Iowa and get me. I'll be the frozen one on the Westbound side of I-80.

My company is giving a bonus sometime before Thanksgiving. (How nice and Unreal!!) If it's enough for plane fare, and Nothing Else Major Happens To Take My Money Away, I may just be able to make the Gathering. I'll be looking for that boiler room for lodging......hey, if Soul can live in his car for a few weeks, I can flop on a boiler room floor...

Whisper all of this, because saying it out loud could be a jinx. :

Bonni, telemark turning folk don't swing ...they swoop.
Swoop like a pterodactyl, PinHed?
Looks like I'm going to go.....guess I'd better read all of this thread to find out the skinny on all the events...a daunting task. : Bob--table for 3?

Yes, but I can win a contest for being the absolute slowest skier on the mountain!
Well, now, LM, that honor belongs to me.

I hereby challenge anyone to ski as slowly as LM and I and NOT fall down.
