2003 Barking Bears Gathering - Official Thread - Page 10

Hey guys,

We're definitely going - we just haven't decided which Frequent Flyer account to raid yet for the tix.

I'm confused - is the list now being posted the people who have said they're going (in which case we've been on it for ages), or is it the list of people who have already laid out the dinero for the reservations (in which case they probably don't have a kid in college )

We're in, in fact I've even been considering sneaking my teenage daughter out of High School in Florida for the week (shut yo mof Midget - don't even go there ) so that she could go too.

Hey AC - does the software have any kind of database feature? Maybe instead of a continually updated thread, we could keep the list of those going in one place?

OK,
Another question...
What is the best way to get from Sandy to Alta or Snowbird?

Thanks,

S

I've got miles, Mark has miles, and Miles has a BUNNY!

Seriously speaking, we are planning to go, but I wish the arrangements for the clinic were finalized, so we can make more definite plans.

LM,
I'm going, and I'll be there from probably 23rd January, I'm relying on the clinic being somewhere in Utah around that date!

Mark Mark,

The list is those that are definite.

What did we end up with last year? I think the list got to 23, but about half actually showed up.

I know I'll be there, you can count on that.

Other than that, who knows? :

SCSA - Is that list for participants or pros or both? I think you've kinda told me "what for" some weeks ago - so I have no choice. I am there!
checking out this thread trying to figure out what is best way to attend. two questions were or what is sandy ,what is best place to fly into salt lake ?,we would be flying from Atlanta, from what I read alta is the ski resort everyone is going to be at.
thanks bteddy

bteddy,

Sandy is the city at the base of the moutains. So is Cottonwood Heights (no hotels that I know of) and Midvale, which also has Hotels. It is probably a good bet for a cheaper place to stay, then drive up the hill 10 miles to the resorts.

Salt Lake International Airport (SLC) is the airport you will want to fly into.
Alta, pardon my clarification; Sandy is the city at the foot of Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons, but it's all Salt Lake; the City's made up of a series of towns that grew together over the years; so Sandy, Murry, Midvale are all townships encompased within greater Salt Lake and close to the action, cheap too. Don't worry though, SLC is still a modest city and easy to get around by most standards. Best lodging is definately in the canyon tho, and springing for the Cliff Lodge can insure first tracks, especially if the canyon road closes for Avalanche control. And please don't confuse the Alta Lodge, the great old fashioned soul-chateau at the resort with the Alta Motel on State street. Alta Motel is much cheaper and comes with hookers and controlled substances; but then again, with this bunch... R.

And Fox; There are great buses, rental cars, and I could be prevailed upon for a lift. Anyway you cut it though, if you stay in Sandy for the savings you'll have to spring for getting those fourteen miles up the hill. A car can be good though, you may want to weidle with Stein over at Deer Vally.

Rubob, I understand that as well, I was just trying to make it as easy as possible for the travelers. Agreed that Salt Lake pretty much is everything in the valley, however, individual hotels might have different mailing addresses even though they are in Salt Lake. So when somebody does a search on the internet, they might want to type in Sandy, Midvale or something else besides Salt Lake City to get the best results nearest to the resorts. Anyway you look at it, its all Utah!

Alta; Yeah, I knew you knew... I was just hoping to clarify for various foxes and other overseas and points beyond bears. Get your pass yet? Ordered two Friday, one for me and one for my 4 year old. $50 for her...

Ahem.

Is the clinic happening or not?

If it is, I think we should have a serparate thread for those planning on going to it.

The clinic has been discussed in the instruction forum - mostly by instructors - but I think it's a good idea to have a clinic thread here. I plan on being at the clinic. I'll start another thread here.

There's few that I think are coming but have yet to add themselves to the list - Lisamarie for one.

BTW folks, once you're sure you're coming, add your name(s) to the list - you don't have to wait for me to do it.

Cheers,

Alta,

trying to accomodate the ghosts or ski travel past, present and future. the funnel narrows. anyhoo, lookin' like i might get in there that last weekend. gonna try to make it happen. but "officially," for the sake of keeping track, wanna keep it a "no," then see what actually happens.

What are the actual official dates for the gathering? I want to add them all to the calendar, and WTFH's dates don't seem to correspond with SCSA'a dates in the first post in this thread.

If anyone here knows, could you also let me know what the clinic dates are?

Is there a clear, easy to find notice of this info anywhere (I couldn't find it if there is). I'd suggest this info be maintained on the first post in this and main the clinic thread. I'll post the info three (as well as the calendar) once I know it!
