Vail Resorts Announces 2015/2016 Opening/Closing Dates - Apr. 6

I see Vail and Beaver Creek will be closing 2-weeks after Easter next spring on April 10th. Earliest closing I could find since before 1999.

Also noticed that Breckenridge was left off the short list....anyone hear anything that or about Copper's plans? Need someone to pickup the slack.

I recall back in the late '80s that Vail almost never stayed opened past the end of March, but that Summit Co. always stayed open.

Looks like my timeshare week is cut in half, so some road trips will be in order.

A-Basin!

Just going to make ABasin more crowded in April, since it's on the VR pass.

I imagine Copper will stay open until that next weekend, that seems to be their mo. Apparently Vail doesn't make enough money in April....

Could be that or the inability to retain staff late season.

It's a lot easier to extent the season if conditions warrent, than to shorten if they don't.

April 10th closing date next year? Are you kidding me? I have never heard of that early of a closing date for any Vail resorts. They (All major I70) resorts should be open at least until the 17th and more appropriately the weekend of the 24th. That is 1 if not 2 weeks of value being removed from their pass.

Also, why don't major Colorado resorts keep just a handful of lifts open weekends only until about the first or second weekend in May?

Easter is really early on March 27th in 2016.  That sucks, as resorts close earlier, and March is even more crowded.

Breck usually stays open a week past Vail/BC, and is most likely to extend of the VR resorts if they do.  So Breck should stay open until the 17th?

It will be interesting to see the Copper/WP dates.   The USASA Nationals at Copper finish up on April 5th, earlier than usual.  Business at Copper dies after that.  I don't see dates on either of their sites, but I'd guess Copper will close April 10th and Winter Park April 17th.

Looks like an A-basin (or Loveland) pass will be even more valuable next year!

I would expect Breck to stay open till the 17th.  The week after Easter Sunday is generally a holiday week for a few foreign countries and Breck does see a lot of visitors during that week no matter when Easter is.  I have never known them to not stay open at least one more week.

Interesting how VR announced this way back on April 6, and no one else has.

I expect Breck to be there, they have for as far back as 1986, my first April in Colorado.

Beaver Creek closed on April 12 this year, which was one week after Easter. Vail closed the following Sunday, April 19.
