In case anyone's wondering why i'm playing on the Forum these past two days, it's because i've got this awful thing called the Flu. Sunday, I felt great and when I got up Monday morning I felt as though i was run over by a truck. Not much better today but I can focus at least.

No, I didn't get a fly shot this year. Stupid huh? For those of you have not gotten yours yet, take my advice and get one. :

Take care of yourself and I hope you're over it soon. They say it's a dandy this year. We all got our shots about 2 weeks ago. I usually don't, but I did this year because of the early warnings. Hang in there!!

I feel sorry for you. This Flu thing is predicted to affect a lot of people this winter. It started making the rounds early and will likely continue to spread, especially as people begin their holiday travels and congregate at various parties and gatherings.

I fly a lot so I try to get a flu shot each year. This year the vaccine is said not to offer complete protection against a certain mutated strain of the bug now making the rounds. However, it is said to still be of important value in helping to ward off or at least minimize the impact of the that mutated strain as well as avoiding the anticipated flu strain.

Further recomendations to avoid catching the flu include washing your hands frequently not touching your eyes, mouth and nose with your hands unless first washed. If you are not feeling well the experts advise staying home from work or school and to seek medical attention if warranted.

Skiing a lot in the fresh, clean air might be other good advice for avoiding the flu (just avoid those noontime lunch crowds in the cafeteria : ).
Hope you get well and back on your skis soon.

yes - Ego Pharmaceuticals make a great product called Aquium(sp?)... it is a bottle of hand cleaning stuff that is alcohol based but doesn't dry the skin(aloe added I think).... we use it a lot to disinfect hands when you can't wash them...

If there is a Health Foods store in your area - get a pack of Oscillococcinum (I quit trying to prononuce it a long time ago! : ) It is homeopathic medicine that works wonderfully against flu - and has no known drug interactions.

They sell it in packs of 3 and 6 tubes filled with pellet. Take one tube every 6 hours.

If you are in an advanced stage of flu - still take it; it will reduce the symptoms. Beware of the flu complications (it tends to hit the nerve connecting between the neck and the ear, so you feel ear pain, like during ear infection, but it is not) and make sure either you or everyone in your household wear masks - or respirators

And of course vitamin C - when I am sick, I take 3 grams at the onset of symptoms and then 500 milligrams twice a day.

My 4-year-old has just gone through it. It was a hard 2 weeks .
