Just saw this news from a couple days ago.

How close is this?

Quote:
Government Camp, located in the shadow of Mount Hood, is a gateway to several ski resorts, including Timberline Lodge and Mount Hood Skibowl.

Mary Jacob, board chairwoman of the homeowners' association for the condos, said all residents have been accounted for and no injuries have so far been reported.  The building houses 30 units.

Actually, according to google maps, it looks like the condos are right at the east base of Ski Bowl.

Edit: mixed up east and west.

Actually that is on the same side of the hwy as the ski areas. There are 2 ski areas. Multorpor and Ski bowl. It's very near the Multorpor base. Ski bowl is west.

Interesting... granted I only lived in Portland for about 6 years, but I never heard them referred to as separate while I was there.  Were they once were separate and are now combined?

They are linked together and apparently have been renamed ski bowl east/west. The east part is called Multorpor mountain. It's been a number of years since I skied there. Remember the wooden ski jump on the Multorpor side? Anyway this resort hardly opened this season.
