What size Dynastar Cham do I need?

I'm looking to get the Dynastar Cham 107 High Mountain and am trying to figure out the correct length. I'm currently skiing on 172cm dynastars but they are on-piste non-rocker skis. From what I've read you are supposed to get powder skis that are a bit longer than you would regularly buy because the effective edge is shorter but the only sizes they have are 175cm and 184cm and 184 seems like a really big jump.

If it wasn't almost May I would go out and demo them, but alas, I got an excellent deal from REI so I can't wait until next season.

How big of a guy are you, where and how do you ski? Which 172 Dynastars are you skiing and what are you looking for that these skis are not doing for you?

I'm 5'10 and 195 pounds. I'm skiing on Dynastar skicross skis today and they are great for east coast skiing but not really wide enough for powder when I go out West or to Europe.

I usually just rent but I've been going frequently enough that it makes sense to buy a pair a dedicated powder skis.

Thanks for the advice ShredHead! Would you mind sharing the rationale behind it? Are fat rocker skis just supposed to be longer than skinny camber skis?

Because they are rockered (  and usually some tail rocker too ) there is less ski in contact with the ground.

For example, a heavily rockered ski like a DPS Wailer 112RP at 184cm has a running length of less approx 159cm

I am 5'9" 175 lbs and my groomer skis are usually 173-177, and my pow skis are 184-190

If you had a heavily rockered ski at 172cm they would ski like snow-blade on an groomer  :D
