Stay in Park City or at Canyons?

Thread Starter

It is already time to plan for the group's ski trip for next year.

For a mid-priced hotel a reasonable walk to the lifts and ample dining options, which area, Park City or Canyons Village?  (I know, "mid-priced" and "reasonable walk" mean different things to different people, but I'm just hunting for ideas now.)  We'd prefer a hotel over a condo.

Park City area if you're planning on only sking there and plan on staying in a hotel and eating out most meals. More options than Canyons Village area. And more stuff to see. If sking a bunch of places besides PC, then Canyons/Kimball Junction area for better access to I-80. But if have a car, then not that big a deal either way.

Park City for sure.

I would look for somewhere close to a bus stop. The free shuttles run 7.30 am = 10.30 pm.

When comparing hotels be aware that some places that carry the Hotel prefix/suffix have little or no hotel facilities. Being timeshare apts.

Canyons is very limited for options, Park City is better for sure, but there is a direct correlation between cost and convenience, and "mid-priced hotel a reasonable walk to the lifts and ample dining options" is somewhat mutually exclusive.
