Not really at all. Both are narrow with slightly different feeling volumes. The Backland boot is much lighter than the MTN as well. I'm sure both will have some teething pains. For the MTN, there's limited forward range of motion in walk mode and rivets placed in areas that commonly require some boot work. For the Atomic, the forefoot cable attachment point on the lateral side of the boot seem that they might be venerable to damage when booting through scree, and the Velcro attachment points for the gusset below the tongue seems pretty finicky, but these are both very interesting first leaps into the tech boot market.
