Thoughts on ski length for 2016 vs. 2015 Bonafide

I'm 36 years old, 5'10", about 180 lbs, and have been skiing for about 29 years.  I've got a pair of Volkl Tigershark in 168cm as my carvers and am looking for an all mountain ski I can use out west.

I've tried the 2015 Bonafide at Vail in both 173 and 180.  The 173 I found were easy to turn, but also easy to over-rotate / over-power, and felt a little skittish in straight lines at speed.  The 180 obviously more stable at speed and straight-line, still turned well with just a little more work than the 173, but not bad.

You mentioned the 2016 are like the 2015 but better, and feel lighter with the lower swing weight.  Do the stiffer carbon tip and tail increase the effort for initiating and finishing turns, or was it about the same / easier?

Any thoughts on what length I may like based on my experience testing the 2015 Bonafide 173 and the 180?  I had initial thoughts of going with the shorter length, but the 180s felt good, and just trying to hear how the 2016 fair and what length might work.

Thanks for your input.

The 180 in either year. The carbon does not change the length feel.

Ok, thanks. So the swing feels the same or lower?

Interesting. My local shop also recommended a 180 length, but every place in Vail suggested 173. Any thoughts on why they would suggest going shorter?
