Head GTO 200 for cheap master's GS ski?

Would the GTO work, esp in the 170 to 190 lengths? 118-63-100, 17m radius. Looking for something inexpensive to do occasional training on GS gates, something more stable at speed than my 152 Fischer FIS SL's but still grippy on ice like them. I tried my old straight skis but the bases are far too slow and my Head Titans felt like spatulas.

Proper cheaters like Atomic doubledecks are way over my price range, and new FIS 30m and 27m GS skis are cheap, but sound like they might be a handful, especially on the small local hill I train on.

Me 165lbs, 49, 5'9" got back into skiing last year after a long break, learning carving, did masters training last winter on SL gates.

You would be better served getting a real race ski or cheater in 19-23m R.

You can find these on craigslist or at local race team swaps for short money.

For course training, there is nothing more appropriate than a true sidewall RACE ski.

You might also consider getting a JR ski.  E.G. I have a pair of Atomic 174cm 19m GS skis that are excellent for beer league racing.  The softer flex and shorter radius would be a good match for a guy your size.

That Jr ski idea is interesting.

Hi

I was going to say something similar. Earlier this winter I came accross some dead cheap GTO's 190, but as you think about it (I havent skied them), they seem to be a softer flex than the cheaters, and would be clumsy in freeskiing. Its like a parody of a racing ski.

The D2's are really expensive, but there are several others that you will be able to find with end of season discounts or some used ones (need to check how much edge is left in that case). Maybe you can find even here in epic.

There wasnt a single GS ski form the top brands that I havent had fun (granted I had more fun in the D2, damn you Atomic!) and I grabbed myself a Head iGS RD, but I could have easily bought a Rossignol Masters or Racetiger.

Good luck
