Me: 5'7", 165 lbs, Age 66, Level 8.
Skis: 2015 Fischer Progressor 900, 170cm, 75mm waist.
Boots: 2015 Head Vector 115.
I've really enjoyed the P900s this season as a versatile Eastern front-side high performance carver. But I was toying with the idea of getting a wider 2nd pair more suited towards playing in the bumps, trees, and 3-D snow, while still performing pretty well on hardpack.
Sticking with Fischer just for argument's sake, I guess I'd consider the Ranger 88 or Motive 95. Is that the right width range for the next step up in fatness? What else should I consider (any brand)? And what length should I be considering? Etc.
I'd be looking for a deal on 'last years skis' in the early fall, as these would likely not be my daily drivers. I don't think I need/want anything wider. If I go out West (sadly, unlikely), I'd rent skis for the conditions.
