My guesses are cost, perception/marketability and or performance.

Cost more to make a full sidewall ski...that 's why caps came into favor in the first place.

I am pretty sure they have been a sandwich for a long time, based on ski that I have seen destroyed, only real change is adding the sidewall rather than the cap.

I liken it to Salomon with their boots.  They spent billions of $ and about 15 years to come up with a 4 clip overlap boot....:D  Now Atomic is doing the same with full sidewall race skis....

I had a pair of 2012 Atomic gs skis which had 45/35. Just sold it for 100€ with bindings. Biggest fault ever....mad.gif:mad:mad
They were mint condition and were raced only 4 runs..
