Question on binding mount when changing boot sole length

Hello.  I recently upgraded boots, which changed from 300mm to 293mm sole length.  My skis are Fischer RC4 GS.  Bindings are Z17 mounted for 300mm sole length.  I slid the heel piece along the rear track forward by two notches (out of 4 that I can see) to accomodate the shorter boot sole length.

Any thoughts on what's the effect of doing this, and whether I will need a remount?  It seems like I have effectively moved a couple mm forward... how should I think about this and what feelings should I look for to evaluate whether a remount is needed?

Thanks!

7 mm is generally within the range of most bindings, assuming they're originally mounted to allow it. But some bindings are very sensitive to forward pressure. Take your setup to a real shop. The tech there can set and test it to see if it remains DIN appropriate. Should be fine, but don't do-it-yourself and then sacrifice your knees.

Thanks.  I definitely plan to have a tech check the forward pressure and DIN setting to make sure everything is within parameter.

Assuming that it is, it seems like I will be forward by about 3-5mm relative to ski center point (I assume one notch in the heel piece is 5mm).  What is the effect of that and what feelings should I be looking for?

Thanks.
