Funny you ask, I just respond to someone the same question in a PM... I've owned the 177 rev 85 and didn't like it... FOR ME, it was the most indifferent ski I ever owned... It has roughly similar flex but prefer the snow feel of the rictor, it's grip and consider it a better carver... For off-piste, I would say it is similar in terms of capacities...

Weight wise, this ski would fit... How tall are you?

5'10", 166 lbs.  All of my fully cambered or slight "tip rise" frontside skis have been in the 170-ish length range, and have been the right size for my Eastern skiing.

I think it depends if you want the tighter turn radius of the 170, which is 1315, or the radius of the 177, which Mogsie has said is 17.

Edited to make up for misreading of radius.

Never seen a ski that is 17 in 177 being 13 in 170... Usually the same or about 1 m of difference...  on ski.com, they say that radius goes from 16 to 20 m...

177 for a 178 cm skier, level 8,  It would be perfect for you I think... The 177 for you is like the 181 for me... and it is the perfect lenght for me, if I buy shorter, I don't keep the skis, always feeling that they are too short... but this is a personnal mather...

Well, I'll take your word but you should get an appointment with your optometrist anyway...:D

Sometimes I dream of a world where skis companies really put informations on their website so we can stop guessing...
