Your top 3 skiers - Page 3

It is really sad how Combs died trying to save someone else. That says a lot more about a man's character that any type of skiing ever will.

Bill Briggs.  First descent of the Grand Teton, and with a fused hip at that!

Anselme Baud.

Antoine DeBennedetti.

Mike

First descent, ascent, circumvention or insertion of anything starting with the word "Grand" is always a good start.

Actually I think that skiing with a fused hip very well may be considered an unfair advantage.

I actually approached a number of orthopedic surgeons asking to have a bunch of stuff fused to help my skiing.

(insert degrading joke) I have yet to have heard back but I would say things look promising.

I'm going with -

Doug Coombs, Jon Olson and Bode Miller

I understand your choice of Coombs and Miller but Jon Olson? Isn't he just one of a bunch of great free skiers? Why is he a standout for you? I'm only curious because it seems just about every body has chosen very obvious candidates: Hirscher, Mikeala, God, Jesus, etc. So obvious that they didn't even sense the need to say why. It is the "why" and not so much " who" that would carry more significance of interest. Especially for free skiers where performance is less quantifiable. So, other than being a typically awesome skier, what is so special about Olson?

^^^

Maybe because he is a successful freeskier who is also a good enough racer to have been on the WC tour for four years.  He can ski AND do tricks.

Ghost has it. Jon Olson can win freestyle comps and Europa Cups.

He's also won the scandi big mountain champs, which is one of the highest level Freeride comps outside the Fwt.

Well that answers that question rather bluntly. Anyone with that particular mix of accomplishment has to be amazing.

I love seeing that touch of GS flair watching Rhalves and Svindal on the super steep. I will look for this guys coverage on youtube.

Going to have to youtube him.

Currently:

Paul Lorenz

JF Beaulieu

Ted Ligety

Mikaela Shifrin

I tried to stay away from the genre or racing, but Ted is so techincally perfect he is impossible to ignore and there are so man  lessons regarding balance and CoM WATCHING (but not listening to ) Mikaela.

Partly, this for me is about the skis: the Obsethed.  The Pettitor.  The Annex 118.  Very inspiring for my own skiing.

(Tabke, Fenninger and Shiffrin too.)

Oh, and McConkey
