I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of Salomon Quest Pro 130's. For those who have tried them, what are your opinions? I'm not asking the boot guys, because I don't want the opinions of fitters.
I was put in a Lange XT 120 at the beginning of the season. After 7 fitting sessions, I'm still getting excruciating pain on my 6th toe area and will be getting a refund for the boot. Another fitter recommended the Salomon boots because of the custom moldable shell. My left foot is 100 mm wide and half a size shorter than my right, which is 103 mm wide. I have narrow lower legs, but wide-ish feet. With any boot I move the cuff buckle ladders to the tightest mount and tighten the buckle to mid way.
I spend about 80% of my days riding the lift and 20% touring/hiking some side country stuff in northern VT. I ski all day, so I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance for comfort. I also prefer bumps and trees instead of the groomed trail.
Questions for users of this boot series:
1. Do you think the strap and one cuff buckle is durable enough for 5+ seasons with 30 days of skiing?
2. The flex, in a heated boot shop, feels lighter than the lange XT's I have been in. Does the cold air on the mountain stiff the boot up significantly?
