I had a similar situation with a pair of Kastles back 25 years ago where the 'edge separated from the base'. Actually, in this case, it appeared that it was the base separating from the edge rather than the edge separating from the base.
When I took them back to the retailer I was told that they would do nothing because the damage was caused by an overly hot iron while waxing -- because, as they told me: 'that's the only possible cause of that kind of damage'. I objected on two grounds: 1) they couldn't make that claim and, 2) I never used an overly hot iron on the skis.
,,, After some grumbling, they replaced the skis with a higher end model -- and I paid the difference in price between the lower end skis and my newer higher end skis (which I still have and occasionally ski on -- they are STILL great skis!)
I don't know if any of that is relevant -- but that's my experience... (it was entirely between me & the retailer and being persistent helped).
