This is my 4th annual buddy trip with a friend I used to ski with growing up. We were both raised in San Diego and once we reached driving age there were many a road trip to Mammoth and Tahoe. We skied together quite a bit until our early 20s but then life drifted us apart and both of our skiing experiences diminished. He actually didn't ski for about 15 consecutive years at one point and I would go for a couple days here and there. About 5 years ago I decided that skiing was much too important for me to remain so casual and began making much more of an effort to plan trips. My first order of business was to reach out to my old friend and try to convince him to take a yearly trip with me. It didn't take much convincing...
Year 1: Taos
Year 2: Alta
Year 3: Summit county (Copper/Loveland)
Year 4: THE BIRD!!!
We planned the trip in October and I was getting quite worried about conditions leading up to the trip. Ice ice baby. I kept hearing about a pattern change coming 2 weeks prior to our departure and did my daily prayers to Ullr and was super nice to everybody. Usually I'm an A-hole... JK. It worked!!! I think Snowbird received approx. 36" of snow from the day before we arrived up till the moment we left (give or take).
We could feel the ice layer a bit on 3/1, much less on 3/2, and not at all on 3/3. Here is a little edit I made of the trip. All video was day 2 and 3. My friend is in the purple pants and still wears a fanny pack (not that there is anything wrong with that ). He is skiing in the 1st 2 sequences and then me the next 2. We didn't take much video since we were having too much fun. I used slow mo in order to fit the song properly. My 2nd attempt at an edit. I hope you enjoy it...
