Getting ready for our first trip out West, trying to figure out how to pack for the plane. Skis go into ski bags, clothes (+boots) into carry-ons, probably....
BUT what do you do with the helmets? For a family of 4, they take an awful amount of room, and are awkward to pack. Can you take your helmet with you as a "personal item" in addition to a carry-on (but then no other personal items? Can you, like, bring it in as if it's your headgear of choice? (Wear your helmet when boarding the plane?) What do you do?
Thanks for any suggestions (there's a lot of very helpful discussion here on how to pack ski/boots/etc, but not much on helmets).
