At our area we have 2 types of guys running "fis" type gs skis, low single digit hdcp's and guys with high teen to mid 20's for hdcp. The latter group would be better served with a cheater gs ski or as we call them Nastar skis. The Nastar skis depending on make and model come in a variety of flexes, length comes into play also. Several of the guys are running the longest length Nastar gs ski their favorite brand comes in which generally gets them a 19m radius. When people ask me about getting a longer radius ski I ask them how many times they wish their ski turned less vs how many times they got in a bind and wished it turned tighter. Another thing to consider is how much you enjoy skiing your gs skis, and I mean out of the course. I ski my Fischer wc rc's all the time unless we are running SL, they ski great in all conditions and being on the ski more often I feel makes me a more proficient racer on them.
The skis that really interest me are 19m. I have been told a lot of good things about Nordica Dobermann as well so want to test those out. I was not suggesting getting another 25m + ski however my ski school director is on a 25m Fischer and swears by them. He says they are easier to turn than most of the old 21m skis so I will be testing those out as well. What ever I finally buy I can guarantee it will not be another FIS ski. Done with those for now getting too old.
