Need help on purchase....2013 Rossignol S3's

Hey guys,

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Been into skiing for a few years, looking at purchasing a wider ski that handles better in the powder. Right now I'm just using a Rossi Experience 83 176cm. I'm about 5'11 and 190 lbs.

I've found a good deal on a 2013 Rossignol S3 186cm + bindings for ~$300, all brand new.

Should I purchase? They're 2013 so I'm thinking if I hold off then next year the Sin 7's might come down a bit.

Realistically I'll get 100 days on ski in two seasons, so it's not a lifetime purchase. Just wondering if it made sense to pull the trigger. For my height and weight, is 186cm too long?

Or if anyone can tell me if there's enough difference between the S3's and Sin 7's to make me want to spend the extra $$'s?

Where do you ski?   You might want a wider ski for a real powder ski, but the S3 is a great powder ski for it's width.  It skis really short, so you definitely want the 186 at your weight.  178 would be too short.   I'm ~180lbs and skied them both.  Hated the 178, enjoyed the 186 enough I skied it a bunch on powder days.

Biggest drawback is the S3 very soft and very rockered, so not good at speed on groomers, but you have your other skis for that.  I haven't been on the Sin 7, but it's said to be better on groomers than the S3, but as a result might not be as good in powder?

East coast. Stick to the resorts. So not crazy powder all season long. But when we get it I really want a fatter ski. 98 at the waist should be good.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just thinking for the cost it might be too good to pass up on. Happy to hear the length should be good for my weight
