2015 K2 Rictor 90xti 170cm or 177cm? or not much difference?

Hi Epicskiers :)

Would like an opinion on length on ski :) I came across an opportunity to upgrade my skis recently with a sale over here at my city. The ski I'm looking at is the 2015 K2 rictor 90xti.

I'm between 5'9" and 5'10" and weigh about 190. I live out west in canada and ski mostly at sunshine village and we get quite a bit of snow every year. If I'm lucky, there're times when it's snowing so much, the groomed slopes don't even get groomed. A couple of years ago, I bought the 2011 K2 amp rictor with the 80mm waist at 167cm. This ski has served me rather well as I progressed up from blue slopes to blacks and is still great for ripping at speed on a groomed slope on a clear sunny day. However, as I mentioned, we do get quite a bit of snow and I've started to go down ungroomed black runs. Recently, I've realised that I have been leaning back a bit to keep tips up going on fresh snow. This gets quite tiring on my legs........ Also, I found that I had to shift my weight aft quite a bit when trying to turning in the loose stuff.

Now, I don't plan to exactly progress into skiing off-trail all the time or the pow between trees so I'm probably don't want a >95mm ski. I was deciding between the 170cm or 177cm 2015 K2 rictor 90xti. These skis have a 30% rocker in them and I remember from 4 years ago that we should size longer for these rocker skis. However, I'm afraid the 177cm will be a little too long for me. I'm also thinking that the 177cm would be a little harder to turn/manage on the morguls down the black slopes (which develops quite often because of the amount of snow and they just don't bother to groom the trail). I don't have time to demo either because I'm pretty sure these skis will go fast during the discount =(

What're your opinion guys?

Definately 177. The rictors ski quite short. And they ski very easy too. Go for it

Keep the 80mm ski for the firm days and get a 100+ mm ski for the soft days.

Thanks :)

Unfortunately, due to space constraints and budget, eventually I will be selling the 80mm rictor :) so I would like a one quiver ski for my purposes.

I have the 82XTi and I agree with qcanoe. Keep your old ski, get an additional ski in the 98-104 range. And go to that 177 length if there's anything more than marketing rocker. Not that the ski you're looking at doesn't have a lot of fans, but I'd put it as a one ski quiver ski and you have a pair that probably still have life in them.

Edit. Oops, you jumped in ahead of me while I was typing.
