Thread Starter

im arriving this thursday and from what ive been reading it hasnt been a good snow season.

what are peoples thoughts of making the drive to JH? is it worth the trip now?

3 days scheduled at Alta and i have 4 days unscheduled and am willing to make the drive if its worth it.

Never hurts to be flexible.  Could hit Grand Targhee too.

Yeah same question, but for late march,as the snow seem quite awful this year in Alta/bird, I am thinking just drive to JH and stay there for my 6 days skication.

You can pretty much always get rooms in Jackson. Just make the call last minute.

Only way I know of to get a good deal on tickets is with The Mountain Collective pass (sold out I believe) or with a lodging package.  Jackson Hole's website has packages listed and you can call their central reservations number who are very helpful.  Some of the hotels in town like Town Square Inn's and others offer some packages as well.

I'd recommend staying flexible for a day or two more, at least. Something is coming through northern Utah starting Friday. It could be a lot, could be flurries. The forecast immediately afterwards is for cooler temps, so if it's anything it'll ski nice. OTOH, the ridge could refuse to budge and everything could go north of SLC, in which case just pile your stuff in a rental and go north, young man!

Just checked Liftopia; no deals for Jackson, but $112 for 2 out of 3 days at Targhee and $155 for 3 out of 4 starting this weekend. Not bad, especially if you can find cheap lodging within striking distance.

Both AltaBird and JH are in full-on spring mode now, though the base is deeper at Jackson.

+1 So the OP should watch the weather and if there's another storm in the pattern of the last month that hits Jackson and misses Utah, head up there.

As for richDDT, the same flexibility applies, but in late March it's just overwhelmingly likely that AltaBird will have the better skiing due to Jackson's sunny exposure.

Driving to JH doesn't make sense, unless you are looking for a change of venue.  At this time of the year the sun matters and with no new snow at both locales, JH will likely be in worse shape than the Cottonwood resorts.  I'll heading out there and will be skiing SLC tomorrow myself.  The forecast is calling for possibly 6" Fri nt/Sat.  That could mean 10" on top.  But w/o looking, maybe that storm will be better at JH and that might change your options.

They have a crazy Cottonwood deal going on right now,  3 days for $118!!!  I got one.  And in the General forum someone said he redeemed it legit yesterday.
