Debating which pants to use- Spyder or Rucanor

Thread Starter

I'm flying to ski in Chamonix, France next week. I have a pair of SPyder ski pants that fit well, but my buddy who lives there said that he could give me his pair of Rucanor pants and save me the hassle of bringing my pants along. Is there a big difference in the quality? Should I just take my Spyder pants with me?

Thanks

Really depends on the features of both pants I guess, and what activity you are going to undertake. Chamonix is mounteneering as much as it is skiing. Are you planning on hiking, touring, bootpacking a lot? Get some hardshell pants and jacket. If you are just cruising the little resorts, riding the bus in between and using the lifts, keep an eye on the weather and choose your garments accordingly.

If you tell us more about both pants, we can offer better answers.

kind of a generic response, but, unless you're worried about having to pay extra for an over weight bag, bring your own gear.  You know better than anyone how your clothes fit and how they move with you.  Why have a potentially miserable experience with something you're unfamiliar with.  Nice of your friend to offer, but why chance it?  Just sayin'.
