The difference, which is probably only a problem to us old school skiers, is hand position. Her hands should be thumbs up and heels down out front instead of thumbs in and heels out to the sides. Poles should be vertical instead of angled and pointing back. When skiing in that position you can plant and turn just as fast, maybe faster than what the Japanese lady is doing.

An Austrian would say that's all wrong.
Arms out in front at 45 degrees for maximum balance and an actual pole plant only on steep technical terrain.
I'm with Marko and Liquid... some Epic'ers don't know enough about different national teaching techniques to make valid comparisons.
