And there's the rub.  So easy to boot up and short walk to the lift from here or do same and get on bus both ways.  My mind says bus but Michel's mind says Elk Camp gondola:confused

You got a car and parking is close and free at Highlands today.   Get her a hot dog,  then take her into town and buy her a rock!

Elk Camp gondola won on the proviso that next trip I'm hitting Ajax and Highlands wether she wants to go or not (Gathering perhaps;)).  I've been to Highlands twice before and love it.

Started the day at the gondola 5 minutes after it opened with Michel and then immediately up to High Alpine for a combination of soft bumps under the chair and then a very high speed (for me) steep groomer skiers right of the same chair.  Spent the rest of the morning on Sheer Bliss and found some cut up powder in the trees skiers left.  Problem was I ended up in Garret's Gulch after exiting the trees which while an OK run isn't a ton of fun for me.  Caught up with Michel at Elk Camp for lunch around 11:45.

Spent the rest of the day with Michel on Alpine Springs, Sheer Bliss and the Burn.  Those familiar with the area will already know this, but for those who aren't there are no trails marked green on these lifts. Michel did not hesitate and a little excitement in her voice when I told her where we were going:cool  Visibility was not good at the top but not a big deal because that's the lowest angle part.  It gets appreciably steeper about 1/4 down the run where the run is solid upper intermediate from that point all the way to the bottom of the Big Burn.  Michel was a little hesitant at the top of the steeper section and then all smiles and going faster as the run progressed.  When we got to the bottom of the chair and she looked up and saw what she had just skied she says with a huge sense of accomplishment and satisfaction "Wow I did that, cool":yahoo:

BTW, it snowed about 2+in during the ski dayThumbs Up And also the Pulled Pork at Big Hoss BBQ in The Village Mall sucksThumbs Down

Off to Jackson for The Gathering tomorrow and now for just a couple pictures.

Michel at base of Sheer Bliss followed by the smiles after she looked back and saw what she had just descended from below:cool

Maybe some hot tub shots of Michel later;)

Hot tub pics:D

Michel & I made it to the hot tub on the last night of our stay here and were joined a few minutes later by a group from Germany.  They all live 3hrs or less from some of the best destinations in the Alps and could not rave enough about U.S. Rocky Mountain skiing versus the Alps.  I've skied both and yes the snow is generally much better here but I was lucky and hit the Alps in really good snow.

Good conversation, good drink and good timesThumbs Up

The German contingent and me, but Michel makes the otherwise offensive pic acceptable;):D
