I am really perplexed as both reviewers had a strong distaste for the NRGY 100, both this year and last. However, it seems as if every main stream publication has awarded them a ski of the year designation. Think Skiing & Outside...
I don't want to turn this into a discussion on the uselessness of the mainstream magazine reviews. That has been beaten death.
I simply found the fact that they both agreed about the amount of driver input needed was excessive and that once on edge its lacks....well eNeRGY.
This echoes my opinion on the NRGy 100 185cm for the most part. I truly loved the ski in the horrible off-piste conditions I skied it on (wind compacted, tracked out, re-frozen, grabby junk snow) as well as spring conditions on other aspects. The ski enabled me to make controlled short/medium radius turns without ever feeling like it was too much or unforgiving. However, on the firm groomers... I found it very difficult to find the sweet spot. It wasn't terrible by any means but it felt as if the ski was trying to run away from me. Not throwing me in the back seat, just not very compliant.
I'm in the market for new skis so I'm going to give them one more try in the 177cm length. If that doesn't work out I'm ordering Kastle FX94 or the new Nordica Enforcers.
