SOLOMON SX61 broken ankle cable strap

Thread Starter

My wife loves these old ski boots, mostly because she has a large narrow foot that is hard to fit.  Anyway, does anyone out there have this cable replacement part and if not could it be swaged to work?

Thanks in advance,

CAVU Steve

thats a 20+ year old boot.    She should REALLY replace that with something that flexes/skis/walks better.  Yes she likes it, but with no other referance point, she has nothing to compare it to.

Best bet,    try to remove the cable,  if it comes out, then buy another pair on ebay, and swap cables out from old to older.

Dave, 20+ years old...closer to 30 years old, i was selling those boots back in 1985 (and we had a pile of SX41 in rental!!)

The next repair will be a total toe box replacement, caused by cracking around the boot shell 3.5 inches posterior the toe lug, last time I checked that was a $30,000.00 procedure ;) !

Miketsc gave you the best response. The plastic on those shells is going to disintegrate while your wife is skiing on them. Replacing the cable is problematic because the cable once cut is very difficult to get it reattached to itself inside the boot.

if you love your wife a lot, you will make an appointment for her at the best boot fitter in your area.
