Taos Late March/Early April 2015

Kids have spring break 3/28-4/5/15 (last week for many resorts).  Flights to SLC from Newark/NYC are for some reason insane ($700+) and generally want a red-eye back which I'm not into for a 7 y/o.  Thought about Aspen but same pricing and I understand very expensive at the mountain.  I've done Jackson in March and don't really trust it that late.  Flights are expensive anyway.  Telluride is interesting but same story on flights and understand it's very expensive.  So, now thinking about...

Taos.  Airfare is a little cheaper to ABQ and flight times are reasonable for the kids.  I realize nobody has a crystal ball, but anyone want to take a guess at conditions?  They don't exactly seem to be killing it at the moment.  Then again, no one does.

Most importantly, is it going to scare may wife...  She's fine at JH, Alta, etc., even some blacks.  But, open alpine places like Snowbird with no real options to ease into things (gets freaked out by the view; go figure, not at Jackson) don't work so well.

Taos has a excellent children ski school. If your kids are teens, they also run teen ski weeks. So they hang out with kids their own age. My son is in college so I am no longer up on the school schedules - thank god. If NY is out that week there will be enough kids from NY staying at St. B for a couple of teen week classes.

As for your wife - sign her up for a ski week and she will be a better skier by the end of the week. Should think about that for yourself also.

Condition wise, spring skiing is usually good.
