the problem putting skis in the car is if ever you get into an accident beware the skis and ski  boots will be flying inside the car..get a rack for your safety.

You have a couple of options so they will not fly around the car. If you have a center pass thru - stick them in a bag and secure the bag with the center seat belt. If your rear seat folds you can put the skis in a bag and wedge them diagonally from the back corner of the car to the back door. In both examples the skis will not move.  You have bigger worries if you fail to secure your ski boots or ski boot bags.

Guy goes into the ER with front teeth knocked out. Nurse says did you get into a fight? Nope. Flying ski boot.

My first worry is why the skis are flying in the car in the first place. That's usually an indication that you have bigger problems to worry about!

Get a European car that has a center-pass through with integrated ski bag.
