An Afternoon of Pretty Faces

Thread Starter

I had the coolest afternoon of skiing this past week.

Thanks to segbrown of EpicSki, I was given the enjoyable task of finding a young girl or two to spend an afternoon skiing with Lynsey Dyer at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.  Segbrown had made a contribution to Lynsey's Kickstarter campaign to raise money to fund her ski movie "Pretty Faces", and the contribution was substantial enough to earn a half day with Lynsey.

If you don't know about "Pretty Faces", you should check out this ski movie.  Here's the site:  http://unicornpicnic.com  The movie is entirely about women and girls skiing in incredible places but it's way more than that.  It's a love letter by Lynsey Dyer about mountains, snow, freedom, sisterhood, and her mother and father.  If you love skiing and haven't seen this film, you really should.

Segbrown couldn't make the scheduling work out for her own family, so she emailed me to ask if I knew of any young Jackson girls who would enjoy skiing with Lynsey.  It took me about a half-second to nominate the 13-and11-year-old daughters of Stephen McDonald, aka Skiing-in-Jackson on EpicSki and ski boot fitter extraordinaire at Jackson Hole Sports.

13-year-old Liberty is still the youngest person ever to have skied more than 100 days in a season at JHMR, a feat she accomplished when she was 7 years old!  Her sister, Damaris, is just as nutso about skiing and they are both a riot to ski with.

We got the logistics together and we all met up at the Bridger Gondola early afternoon this week.  I got to go along as the photographer and "adopted grandfather" of the girls.  Lynsey was fantastic with Liberty and Damaris and their combined energy just lit up the hill.

Thank you, segbrown.  It's one of my most treasured skiing memories and I know the girls were in seventh heaven.

And many thanks to Lynsey for making a dream come true for two little girls.

Early front-runner for post of the year on Epic.  So much awesome here.  Those girls are going to love having those pictures down the road.

Thanks so much for getting it all put together, @Bob Peters . (All I did was make the logical decision.)  I love seeing those photos, and their smiles!

Can't wait to come back in a month, too. Took this from the plane the other day, such a special place.

Thanks so much to segbrown for everything. You rock! It was a day my girls won't forget.

Blaze and I were luckiy enough to ski some runs with Bob this morning. Thanks Bob!

Great stuff.  Kudos to @Bob Peters and @segbrown for making this happen for a couple young ladies who will likely remember this for a long time.

So I read "Thanks to Segbrown of Epicski" while my eyes kept glancing down at the first photo.

It took me a while to actually read and comprehend the post because I spent too long getting sidetracked wondering how dumb I had to be to not know that Segbrown was Lynsey.

Looks like everyone had a ball!
