Introduction (forum noob)

Thread Starter

Hey all,

Just wanted to introduce myself as I've been quietly lurking since the end of last year. I recently relocated to Houston from Philadelphia for a job in the Copper/moly mining industry that will have me traveling to the PNW, Montana, Wyoming and Alberta (couldn't be happier about the territory). I'm an East Coast bred skier with about 20 years of solid experience, unfortunately, almost none of my experience has been in the west. My home mountain back in PA was Elk Mountain and have frequented everywhere from Maine to the Southern Catskills.

Happy to say that my friends from Houston (weirdly, none are native Houstonians) have scheduled a ski trip to Breckenridge in February 18-22, and we're all pretty stoked about it. The weekend after Breck I'll be going solo to Big Sky (hoping to meet some fellow skiers in Bozeman, or here, to partner with).

Anyway, thought I'd give everyone a shoutout and say that in my short time here I've noticed there are a lot of great people with awesome insight and opinions--I hope to offer some insight of my own in the future. Happy to be a part of it. Apologies if this isn't the proper forum to start an intro thread.

Keep your tips up.

James

Epic is an incredible resource if you listen to the right people.

Damn. I was thinking of starting a pros/cons thread of giro vs. smith. vs. poc.  :deadhorse:

That would make sense only if you have three heads.roflmao.gif

No one. cares about helmet threads anymore.
Graphene and Head's alleged use of it...that seems to get things going.
Any graphite in your territory?

I couldn't care less about helmet threads. Graphene is amazing if it's manufactured properly, we'll see if it does well in the ski world. No graphite around me.

What do you know about Graphene manufacturing? Head claims they use it. What it is they use exactly no one knows.

I wish I could give you first-hand info, but I don't have any direct experience with it. I'll leave you with this link from Outside that explains it perfectly. If you wiki it, you'll be trapped for 30 minutes.

Sounds like snakeoil to me. Or Piezoelectricity.

Lots of Texans (transplanted or original) visit Breck every year.

No it's real. It's causing quite a stir in potential uses. Actual use now is another story which is why we want to know what it is they're using. It's also an incredible conductor. May replace silicon if they can figure how to turn it off Just all the strength statements are scaled up. One sheet is basically 2 dimensional since its 1 atom thick.
