New England Snow / Trip Report & Conditions

I would love to see a forum, this, or any other, even better a mobile app that would host recent, up to date trip reports from New England resorts. I like bumps, but you can never really know 1) if they exist, and 2) what shape they are in, before you jump in the car and drive.

(i.e.)

"I skied there yesterday, it was a sheet of ice, no bumps, no glades open, wind shut down the peak lift, but had the mountain to ourselves"

Nice to know before you go, or am I missing a site or app that has the user reviews like this?

I don't think it's a matter of lack of technology.  There need to be skiers who are willing to submit trip reports.  EpicSki and regional online ski forums can be accessed by any smart phone.

For some regions like the Mid-Atlantic, Tahoe, Colorado, etc., there are ongoing threads each season that can be helpful.  Even with those, still need people who post their experience in a timely matter.

This is New England...  conditions from the time somebody skied it to the time they post about it to the time you read it to the time you are able to get to it -- well, heck, it probably won't bear much resemblance to the originally described conditions.

Keeping an eye on the weather has usually given me a good, realistic idea of what conditions to expect.  Seeing high winds, warm temps and / or "stupid cold" generally means trouble.  Any two of the above three really means trouble.  :)

I agree, some sites do already accomodate trip/snow reportscomments like 'onthesnow.com', just not many, if any comments in there.

There's often surprises though. I never would of predicted that Mon would have had excellent conditions on a lot of the mt. Not when I got so soaked the day before it took 2 days for the gloves to dry out in a furnace room.

He's right though. Like the report on a certain small so vt ski area. "Skied great last week!!" well that was before tbe falling liquid. How about now?
You could look for blogs of places and read between the lines. The best way to deal with NE is to have incredibly low expectations of conditions. Then you'll usually find some part of the mt better.

AlpineZone.com is what you're looking for. Regular trip reports from the noreast, some including pictures. Lot's of other trivial talk about skiing in the NE.
