I have a regular ski partner. We tend to ski at the same pace so there's little waiting.
I usually get to the hill about a half hour earlier than him, so I ski alone the first several runs, although there's a group of retirees who are there every day (over 70 skis for free at my hill) and I've gotten to know a number of them so I'm not usually actually skiing alone.
I also tend to ski longer than my ski partner each day, so I'm usually alone for the last two hours. Sometimes I'll do some runs with the patrol depending on who's on-duty.
But the basic drill is to get there for first chair, bang out run after run without stopping (much), and go home after six hours or so. I couldn't do that with a group.
I'm a member of the local ski club, but I don't think I've ever skied with any of them.
