I've owned three pairs of Lange RS 130 (2) and RX 130 (1) boots in the last few years which have lasted about a year and a half each before the shell has cracked right at the flex point right below the upper cuff. I'm a hard charging expert, 6' 3" with long legs (lots of leverage) but have a hard time believing that I'm driving the boot beyond it's limits. I know there are plenty of other expert skiers in this boot that aren't having this problem. Other than this, I have been extremely pleased with the boot's performance and would really like to stay with Lange's if possible!!
I have made two other modifications to all of my boots which I'm now questioning if they might be having some effect on the shell breaking down and cracking:
1. Switching out the power strap for an after market Booster strap.
2. Replace the stock liner with a Scarpa Intuition Precision High Liner.
Seems like the liner shouldn't cause more wear but I'm suspicious that my problems could be from using the booster strap.
At this point I'm thinking of getting another pair and keeping the original liner and power strap.
Has anyone else run into a similar problem using booster straps or Lange boots in general? Any other opinions on what the problem might be??
