Hop Turns !!!

Nice, almost dolphin turns there. It's easier to learn hop turns on steeper terrain.  You have to get up more doing them on the flats.  On the steeps you hop out and let the drop provide some of the air while turning them.

I give middle skier highest points for best form. Stays centered throughout the hop, doesn't let the extension mess with his form too much. Guy on the right isn't too bad, but is trying too hard for the hop. Getting a lot of height, but its blowing his form as he does it. Guy on the left is fairly sloppy, his skis not staying in the same plane, getting in the back seat etc.

I wanna know what the @Ghost of Josh thinks!  :D  I have to say it's kinda boring in these parts without him!

I had to get the first, inevitable, comment referencing him :-)

mod note: You can look him up on Facebook if you want some excitement.

I don't know whether to thank you for that or condemn you.  I'm out of breath just watching.

Yuck,

I made a hop turn myself just today.

I was in a steep hike to area and the rocks were not fully covered so I hopped because I did NOT desire to turn normally over sharks tooth rocks.

But that was the only one on the whole run.:o

I'll do my best imitation...

"They all suck. Mine are soooo much better. The rest of you shut up until you post video of your skiing, but it doesn't count anyhow if you're one of those out west sissies. Your trees aren't real and everything's easy. Go Stowe, or go home." smile.gif

Lou, what's cool is how much improvement the young guy on the left makes. The gears between his ears are obviously churning... One of those kids that make ski coaches look brilliant. smile.gif The kid on the right needs to lay off the Red Bull. smile.gif

I do a few of those to warm up every time, it tires you out fast but also warms you up fast. Also let you know if you are centered pretty quick.
