I'm thinking maybe the "mystery or not" is the defunct Highmount ski area?

Anyone else there outside the beginner area? Looks good. I've wanted to ski there.

The pictures reflect the emptiness of the trails. There are few people on the trails and they only had about 12 out of around 35 trails open. There are lots of glades too.

They have really upgraded the snowmaking now too. Once they put down a base you can count on them opening.

Usually Fri, Sat, Sun, correct?  Plus powder days after a dump.  Caught a good day last year for my first time at Plattekill.  Really like the place.  Especially in comparison to what's available in the southeast and southern Mid-Atlantic that's driving distance from my house.

Thanks for the TR; I haven't yet been there this year, given the sketchy weather.  Maybe I'll try Monday of the MLK weekend.  Really glad to hear that coverage is good and more trails are opening.  To make it more worthwhile to bring the rest of my family, the second green run would really have to open.  Do you know if there is snowmaking on Overlook?

There is no snowmaking on Overlook. They are open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Holidays. They also open midweek when they get 10" or more snow. Plattekill is a gem and it is never crowded. I skied Plattekill on President's Week Sunday, Feb 16, 2014. It was the most people I had ever seen at the mountain. The longest  lift line was 2 minutes and the trails were empty.

Does anyone here have any insight on how conditions in the Catskills might be tomorrow (Monday, MLK Day) after today's freezing rain?
