Hi, everyone! I figure I should record my adventures so far, maybe to help me decide where my go-to mountain will be, and to see what kind of advice or tips others have. And who knows? Some of my insights might be helpful to other non-experts coming to Utah :)
I'm an intermediate skier--I'm generally comfortable on blue runs, and on black runs if the conditions are right. I am not comfortable in bumps (or crud, for that matter). Most of my skiing experience has been early season/spring/Southern California/Arizona... all of which means that I've had a lot of practice skiing in kind of iffy conditions, but NOT a lot of powder experience. This also has helped build my love of skiing on sunny 60-some degree days (I'm committed to braving at least SOME cold, though). I've always disliked lift lines, and at some point I've managed to become quite a quick-lift snob--while I've spent plenty of time on non-detachable lifts, my standards seem to have shifted. In short, I think I'm what EpicSki calls a "gaper"--but now I live in Salt Lake!
