Don't get to Vermont often but been to Mt snow the most, killington a few times, and Okemo only once. Never been to Pico. For the holiday weekend I will be staying closest to Kilton or Pico but very drivable to Okemo.
Crowds is the main concern and pricing also a secondary concern. Pico the cheapest lift tickets. Okemo the most.
I would assume Pico the least crowds. However, its also smaller and less lifts so not so sure it wont seem proportionally just as crowded.
What do any of you (who are familiar with them) think. I never much cared for the Kiton Party atmosphere type of mountain and is why I usually end up at Mount snow and also snow is a closer drive from Jersey. But anyway due to where we (the fam) is staying its gonna be kilton or Okeomo (after a drive). Okemo was my initial thought but is a bit of a drive from Rutland. We are staying in rutland. Anyway Piko usually flies under the radar kind of in the shadow of the bigger resorts and I was thinking perhaps it might actually be a great option especially for crowds. The only drawback is that if I wanted a smaller resort for the fam to experience I could do that without making the trip to Vermont and drive about half the time to the poconos. Not often we get to go to vermont so its always nice to see and experience a larger (at least for the east) resort. But I'm gonne be pissd if I'm waiting on 1/2 hour lift lines to do it on MLK weekend.
some opinions please?? Thanks also on current conditions if you know them.
. It would be nice if we got some better early season snows in the east. When I was a kid (70's ) I remember many years with storms in December and even November. and by January skiing in Vermont was usually pretty good. Just doesn't happen as much anymore till later into the seson but it is what it is.
