Niseko Guides - inbounds and backcountry

Hello

I will be there for about ten days. Looks like Black diamond guides are all booked up.

Looking for suggestions and recommendations of others. I emailed - Niseko Powder guide, Extreme and Niseko Mecca.

Does anybody have any experience with any of them. I would prefer a group tour. Also the prices seem to vary quite a

bit from 7000Y to 15,000Y per day. little confused about why rates vary so much.

Also how safe is it for me to exit the sidecountry gates by myself. I have plenty of backcountry experience in the US, Canada and France  - but always professionally guided.

Any input will be appreciated.

Hi, Marty.

I would suggest you send a pm to Jim. (the dot/period is part of his Epic handle).  He instructs in Japan and Portillo, is a super-nice guy and an incredible skier.  I'm not sure if he's in Niseko but I'd bet anything he could help you out.

Good luck and PLEASE do a trip report for us????

Try Shinsetsu Mountain Guides (smguides.net). They run backcountry and inbounds tours in Niseko and surrounding areas.

I don't know if they have English speaking staff, but contact Takanashi-san at Toryu.
