New Mantra vs. Old Mantra

Thread Starter

I have been waiting to buy a New Ski for 3 seasons. I have demoed a few skis, Bonafide for 2 years, Mantra for 2 years, And I just like the Mantra better . It feel like it is more stable at speed , carves better has more pop, etc. Now, the 2015 comes out and is completely different. It has no camber and full rocker. Now I have not tried this ski yet . But Is it giving up too much of what I like about the old Mantra? What do you guys think. I am planning a trip in Jan , and Feb I will try to demo the new Mantra , I just wanted some opinions from people who really know both. Thanks

My SO has the new Mantra and loves it. He demoes the old and the new. He liked the old Mantra and was skeptical of the full rocker of the new one. But I don't know what Volkl does - they work some crazy magic of theirs and low and behold - the Mantra is a fun, really easy to turn ski. I tried the new Auras - the women's version of the Mantra - they are also newly rockered - and I really liked them as well. They're very turny, have pop and do great in variable conditions. The days we went were pretty cruddy on bottom and packed powder/bumps on top. I would definitely say - go try it. A couple of other guys we know tried them and they all loved them too.
