Send her out shopping.
As is the idea that his wife wants to go shopping.. I was sort of stunned at that one.
My daughter just had a baby. All she wants to talk about is the baby, and she only wants to be at home with him. I get this. Shopping in this case, if it were her, would mean getting something for the baby. There's nothing wrong with that. I vaguely remember the post I was responding to was of a wife who doesn't have any hobbies and doesn't want to go anywhere. She wants to stay home and be a good mother to her baby. Shopping might mean getting on the internet and buying something big for the baby, or going to stores that handle baby stuff. My daughter would get into that, and she's not a "shopper."
Lots of people love shopping. Remember 9-11? Bush said Go shopping! I flinched big time when he said this, but he was right, actually. Our country would collapse if people stopped "shopping."
