My el cheapo trip to Utah cottonwood canyons

Seems like I've made a habit of doing early season skiing to slc for the last two years around the dec 7th timeframe. I've been using my southwest freq flyer points which I earn with my southwest credit card and the smartphone apps e-rewards and checkpoints. For lodging I just started staying at the Camelot inn & hostel for around $25/night. It's near a Uta light rail station or a short walk to a Uta ski bus stop so no issue with lugging my skis. Plus the place was an easy walk to the epic brewing company and unfortunately an easy walk to levelninesports which I've been buying last years powder skis at discounted prices(so my savings are blown on gear). The Uta system just came out with a plastic tap card so no need to have nine dollars in cash handy all the time just found a 7-11 to buy the card and load fare money onto it. As for lift tickets I just use Liftopia and depending on where I wanted to go bought the tickets on my iPhone and at the resort gave them my drivers license so no need for that printed copy baloney at least this worked fro all the resorts in the cottonwood canyons. And since it was early season there was variable pricing but of course all the places only had partial runs open. Lucky my stay included some powder days that occurred on a weekend. Oh by the way no worry about crowds the locals don't show up unless there has been new snowfall, but for me a bad day in Utah beats a good day in SoCal hands down

Yup - walking into LevelNine Sports will drain your wallet.  Way too tempting.

Glad to see your thread.  If you go to a ski resort town you are stuck with resort prices on lodging, food and everything else.  With a little imagination and gumption you can ski multiple world class areas around SLC fairly inexpensively.  If you are not looking for the resort experience, but just good skiing, there are lots of ways to skin that cat in SLC.

LevelNine is a secret.  :D

Last time I skied with SpikeDog we were each wearing the same shell from LevelNine!
