Hawx 2.0 - Atomic, need help with flex.

Hey, new here. I need a little assistance in choosing boot flex. I live in Japan and all my boots so far have been bought from the US, they don't have my size here. I am 6.0ft and about 220lbs solid build (not overweight) and I am currently using an Atomic Waymaker 100 and I also upgraded my skis to the Atomic Redster 3.0 gs for this season. This season is my 4th year out and each year I have have improved in leaps and bounds. This last week was my first go at the slopes and I found the boot was too soft and losing a little control. I have a pair of Oakley Airwave 1.5 snow goggles and they recorded most of my runs at 25 to 30mph at the faster part of the runs (not straight line speeds, but turn speeds).

So I was looking at the 120 or 130 flex due to my weight. Can anyone give my any advise on what boot flex I should be looking at.

Cheers Dave

Nothing? I was hoping to get the new boot before I head out again in a few weeks.

At 220 lbs I would go with the 130 flex.

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. Is this mainly a weight issue, or does you skill level play a bigger part in choosing flex. And what would happen if the flex was too stiff? Lose some control over the skis?

Thanks again.

It is a weight and skill thing and hard to know how to divy up importance.  Plenty of kid rears much smaller than you using that flex and stiffer.  But size does enter into it and at your weight with any skill and aggression I'd use the stiffer boot like Mike advised.

Increased control but loss of forgiveness of poor technique.

Thanks Lou.

One more question, I can't find it anywhere, but can someone tell me the sole length of a 28.5 and a 29.5 Hawx 2.0 130 boot?

Cheers Dave

OK, found the sole length and if anyone needs to know, it is 225mm for the 28.5 and 335mm for the 29.5.

Can't edit my post, but it was supposed to say 325mm for the 28.5 boot. Sorry.
