What do you throw in a thermos (ski lunches)

I enjoy eating hot food but cannot bring myself to pay the ripoff prices that my ski hill charges for hot food. This year, hamburgers are $14, soup is $7, and pork sandwiches are $12 (I think).

I've invested in a food thermos and have used it for stew and chili. I think stir fry would work well (put the rice in a baggy to keep it from drying out the sauce), and think that pasta dishes would also work well. Haven't tried them yet. I've seen others store hot dogs in a thermos and one could probably make chili dogs pretty easy.

Any other suggestions of what kind of foods work well in the thermos?

I'm an energy bar or STFU and pay the $14 (!!!) for a burger guy, but I would suggest curry as my first choice for your food thermos.

Of course, I would suggest curry in nearly any circumstance, so........:D

Sauteed pork with onions, mushrooms, some garlic, and sour cream. Use enough oil to help add sauce. One of my favorites. Spices would include bayleaf and marjoram for my tastes.

Not lunch, but I carry hot chocolates made with milk.

As for lunch, if I don't like the food at the resort, I pack cup ramen since most resort has hot water, either for free, or at reasonable price. In a rare case where the resort doesn't have any and food there really sucks, I carry a Jetboil.

My wife and I always bring Butternut Squash soup. It does not sound too sexy, but it is simple, hardy, and light. I makes a great meal to fill us up, help keep us hydrated, but not weight down the stomach for the afternoon.

I have a couple small silver bullet thermoses. I like tea with honey, coffee, hot chocolate for the kids in there. Sometimes Apple cider with amaretto.

Soup sounds like a great idea. I will put that into my idea matrix.
