BRRRrrrr.e.. 24 below zero (F) in Park City this morning

Thread Starter

When I got up about a quarter to 8 this morning, it was 24 below zero fahrenheit ( -31 C)

Now, it is about 9:50 AM and has warmed up to a balmy 15 below zero F  ( -26 C).

I admit it -- I'm a wimp.  I'm not skiing today.

I got an message this morning from the Jackson Hole app reassuring everyone that it was a toasty 9 degrees F on the mountain even though it was minus 24 (yikes!) at the base.

I'm at work, not there, but thanks.

My car, which is usually pretty accurate, said minus 26 when I pulled into the lot this morning. The inversion line was about a thousand vertical feel up. At the top of the gondola it was balmy.

It's kinda hard to dress properly for that kind of temperature swing.

Yeah we had a temp inversion here in Park City too. A pretty big one as temps were almost 20 degrees higher at 10000' vs. 7000'. PCMR has weather stations at about 5 different elevations on the mountain and it was interesting to see how fast the temp climbed with altitude. It was about 0 degrees at the top of Jupiter vs -20 at the base.

Just carry Bermuda shorts and flip flops to change into on top. Oh and shades. smile.gif
